He went as a part of Women Orthopaedist Global Outreach, a subsidiary of Operation Walk.

Founded in Los Angeles by noted orthopaedic surgeon Lawrence D. Dorr, Operation Walk is a 16-year, private, not-for-profit, volunteer medical services organization that provides free surgical treatments for patients in developing countries throughout the world that do not have access to life-improving care for arthritis and educates in-country medical and healthcare professionals on the most advanced treatments and surgical techniques for diseases of the knee joints.

Dr. Keen Makes Medical Mission Trip to GuatemalaDr. Keen spent about a week in Guatemala. All surgeries are performed during the first few days of the trip to ensure that the team is on hand to monitor outcomes and treat any complications.

The goal is to perform as many joint reconstruction surgeries, as time, and donations allow. For patients, the surgical procedure involves pre and post operative patient education and a two-to-four day stay in the hospital.
